Phone
An unlocked prepaid handset on a UrbanCache line, a local SIM with thirty days of data, charger and power bank. Your emergency contacts are already in it.
Cash
$300 on the Core plan, $400 on Full, in local currency, in a tamper-evident envelope. Yours to keep, with nothing to repay.
Transit
A loaded transit card for the city — OMNY, Oyster, TAP, Ventra or Navigo — and a rideshare credit.
Clothing
A packable jacket, shirt, socks, underwear and a cap in the size on file, with a voucher at a basics retailer for anything else you have lost.
Documents
Consulate addresses and hours, the passport-photo specification, the steps to an emergency travel document, and a one-time link to your document vault.
Basics
Toiletries, a poncho and a waterproof document pouch.
Procedure
Verification follows release, not the other way round. You should not have to produce paperwork from a street corner without a phone.
An identity check, clothing sizes, two emergency contacts and, on the Full plan, an encrypted vault holding your passport scan, itinerary and the numbers you would want on a new phone.
The waiting period exists so that membership cannot be bought in the middle of the emergency it is meant for.
Call the desk or activate from the app, at any hour. The design is that a person answers.
A photograph matched against the one on file, and your passphrase. That is the whole check.
Collected from the drop, or brought to you by courier anywhere in the core zone. Anywhere in the metropolitan area on the Full plan.
A consular appointment, rebooked flights, a room if you need one, and your emergency contact informed.
A police or consular report number, an airline reference or, in personal-safety cases, a written statement. The case is closed.

UrbanCache exists for the night everything goes wrong. It is not a convenience service.
Locations
Each kit will be held inside the core zone by a partner able to release it at any hour. Couriers will cover the rest of the metropolitan area.
A sixth city — Tokyo, Berlin or Mexico City — will be chosen by founding members.

Founding member deposit
$300fully refundable
Reserve one of the first five hundred founding places. Your deposit holds your founding fee for three years and your vote on the sixth city, and applies toward your first year’s fee.
Deposit terms: the $300 founding-member deposit is fully refundable on request at any time before UrbanCache launches in your city — send a one-line email (reply to your deposit receipt) and the refund goes back to the original card within 5–10 business days. Deposits are received by 312 Productions NW, LLC, the company behind UrbanCache, and held until launch or refund. A deposit does not begin membership and buys no services until launch.
An activation outside the conditions above is billed at cost, approximately $800, and ends the membership.
Questions
No. UrbanCache is a membership service. The kit, the desk, the courier and the bookings will be provided directly by UrbanCache. The basis on which cash and lodging benefits are provided is set out in the membership terms.
No. A kit is released only in the circumstances listed under Conditions. Any other activation is billed at cost and ends the membership. That rule is what keeps kits in place for the members who need them.
By photograph and passphrase. The kit is released before any paperwork. Supporting evidence is due within seventy-two hours.
No. It is an ordinary prepaid handset on a line registered to UrbanCache, intended for reaching your family, your bank and your consulate.
Your passport scan, itinerary and contacts are held in an encrypted vault that only you can open. You may delete it at any time, and it is purged when membership ends.
Couriers are planned to reach most of each metropolitan area within about two hours. Beyond that, the desk still works — consulate, flights, lodging, contacts — and the kit remains at the drop for collection.
